Born on August 29^th, 1987 in the State of Ain Al-Dafla, Algeria. He began practicing martial arts in 1999 at the Nihon Thai-Jitsu Jujitsu School of Self-defense in his home city of Ain Al-Dafla at the age of 12. From his beginnings until he received the black belt of this Japanese martial art, he trained with coach Nabah Abdelhamid who was a black belt of this martial art and he was one of the best students of the famous expert of martial arts in Algeria Benkasmiya Ahmed. After years of hard work, Ali Smail was promoted to the Black Belt in 2005 in a national exam held by the Algerian Martial Arts Federation. In 2005, he won the National Championship of self-defense in the Nihon Thai-Jitsu at the age of 18 where he was the youngest participant in the Seniors category. In 2008, he began his Russian Sambo practice with his coach, Nabeh Abdel Hamid, who was preparing to compete in the World Championships of Sambo in Russia, where he discovered the beauty of opening up to other martial arts to develop and improve his self-defense skills.

Between 2003 and 2010, he participated in dozens of regional and national Thai-Jitsu, Jujitsu & self-defense trainings with various national experts. In January 2010, he had his first international training in Tunisia, where he discovered the professional self-defense of police and security forces with Bulgarian expert Tony Petrov, who was the technical director of the Bulgarian Police Federation and a self-defense expert at the International Federation of Jujitsu (JJIF). Later in March 2010, he participated in the First African Championship in Tunisia of Jujitsu fighting system representing Algeria, where he won the second place and the silver medal in the weight of -85 kg and qualified for the World Games of Combat Sports in China in August of the same year, where he won the silver medal under the supervision of his coach Nabeh Abdel Hamid.

In 2011, he participated in the international training of Jujitsu and self-defense in Tunisia with the Italian expert Giancarlo Bagnulo and the French expert Eugene Dumagata. In 2011, he began teach Jujitsu and self-defense in a club at] Al Abyar Street in Algiers. He is graduated bachelor degree of business management in 2011 from university of Algiers 3.  In January 2012, he participated in the winter camp of Jujitsu and the professional self-defense for police and security forces in Bansko, Bulgaria under the supervision of the International Federation of Jujitsu (JJIF), where he obtained the black belt second degree in Jujitsu and self-defense of police, and he became an international (JJIF)referee Class A for ground combat Ne-Waza.

Later in March 2012, he participated in North African Jujitsu Championships in Tunisia, where he won the gold medal in his class. In 2012, he was a founding member of the Algerian National Jujitsu association and a member of the Board of Directors as the president of National referees Committee. In the summer of 2012, he participated in the summer camp of Jujitsu and professional self-defense in Primorsko, Bulgaria. In October 2012, he participated in the national training of Jujitsu and self-defense with the Italian international expert Giancarlo Bagnulo in the state of Tipaza, Algeria. At the beginning of November 2012, he participated in the African Jujitsu Championship in the Capital of Senegal Dakar, where he won the silver medal in the fighting system and participated in a professional self-defense seminar after the tournament with the Bulgarian international expert Tomo Borizov, head of self-defense department at the International Jujitsu Federation. By the end of November 2012, he had participated in the World Jujitsu Championship in Vienna, Austria. He has participated in several international open championships and several editions of the World Championships.

He moved to the UK to study and began a new journey with martial arts in Europe. Accordingly, he began practicing judo and Brazilian Jujitsu separately to learn the details from the specialists in order improve his skills in different disciplines and start teaching self-defense education in a private club as a part-time job in London. In 2013, he participated in the Paris Jujitsu Open competition. In June 2014, he was ranked sixth in the world under 85kg category of fighting system by the international federation’s ranking list. He oversaw two national jujitsu seminars in Algeria as part of the National Jujitsu Association’s program to develop Jujitsu in Algeria, which became a national federation in 2016. In 2014 he participated in the African Championship in Tunisia where he won the gold medal in fighting system for the weight under 85 kg. In September, he moved to work in Qatar for the Ministry of Interior as a self-defense and engagement instructor for police, where he contributed many improvements to the Self-Defense Department of Police Sports Federation and participated with the team that worked to improve and develop the police training program at the Qatar Police Training Institute.

He trained several police groups with different ranks  for various departments of Qatar Ministry of Interior where his biggest teaching period was with the Intervention Police Group ” attribution “of   “Al Fazaa”. He was a member of the evaluation committee of the technical exam of self-defense and the engagement of police for the graduation at the Police Training Institute  under the supervision of the Qatar Police Sports Federation. In 2016, he participated in the Aikido Training, which was held in Doha, Qatar, by an American expert. In 2016 he began practicing Thai Boxing with his colleague Moroccan a former world champion of Thai Boxing to improve his skills and open up more to various martial arts. In 2017, he participated in the National Training seminar of the German Federal Police in Uelzen,Germany. In the same year, he presented the project holding a competition of self- defense for the scenario section, and it was adopted by the Ministry of Interior and became one of the official sports events held by the ministry annually under the framing of Qatar police Sports Federation.
